Full job description

Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and production, with a keen understanding of food safety standards. As a Sous Chef, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality dishes are prepared and served efficiently. This position requires excellent leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment. You must of worked in a frsh food pub enviroment before and be able to spec and cost dishes, as well as ensure good allergen controls.

Ideal candidate to of had 2 years minimum at CDP or sous in busy pub kitchen, or similar, and be able to liase with suppliers, manage a team and must be reliable.

Responsibilities

Assist the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations and ensuring that all food is prepared to the highest standards.
Supervise and train kitchen staff in food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and safety protocols.
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain cleanliness in the kitchen at all times.
menu planning, including creating new dishes and liasing with suppliers to get the best local produce.
Manage inventory levels, including ordering supplies as needed to ensure smooth operations.
Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely service during peak hours.
Monitor food production processes to maintain quality control and consistency across all dishes, including allergen controls.

Qualifications

Proven experience as a CDP/sous or in a similar culinary role within a pub/restaurant environment.
Strong knowledge of food safety practices and regulations.
Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
Excellent culinary skills with a passion for food production and preparation.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
Industry qualification's preferred but not essential, first aid, food safety etc
