Full job description

This is an excellent opportunity for a professional and proactive individual who enjoys working in a client-focused environment and supporting fee earners in delivering exceptional legal services.

The Role

As a Legal Secretary within our Probate Department, you will provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to solicitors handling probate, estate administration, wills and lasting powers of attorney matters.

Key Responsibilities

Audio and copy typing of correspondence, legal documents and reports.
Preparing probate applications and related documentation.
Opening and closing client files in accordance with firm procedures.
Managing diaries, arranging appointments and scheduling meetings.
Handling telephone enquiries and liaising with clients, beneficiaries and third parties.
Preparing bills and assisting with the administration of client matters.
Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Managing incoming and outgoing post and emails.
Providing general administrative support to the Probate team.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

Essential Requirements

Previous experience as a Legal Secretary, preferably within a Probate or Private Client department.
Excellent typing and IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a busy workload.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Professional and confidential approach to handling sensitive information.

Desirable Requirements

Experience using legal case management systems.
Knowledge of probate procedures and estate administration.
Experience working within a solicitors' practice.
