Contract: AASC (Asylum Accommodation and Support Contract)
Hybrid/Home-based, with regular access to our Warrington office (WA3 7WF) and travel to field office locations as required.
Full Time, 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract
Band 5 / £37,000 - £38,000 (dependent on experience)
Here at Serco, we’re seeking a proactive and organised Product Assurance Tester to join our growing Product Assurance function and help ensure that system enhancements, developments, and operational improvements are delivered successfully across the contract.
Acting as a key link between Operational, Product, Change, and Technology teams, you will play an important role in validating new functionality, supporting user readiness, coordinating stakeholder engagement, and helping to maintain the quality and stability of our core systems.
This role would suit someone with some experience in a corporate environment who enjoys problem solving, working with people, and ensuring that processes are followed correctly. You may already have some exposure to testing, business change, operations, service improvement, or project delivery, and be looking to develop your skills within a structured Product Assurance environment.
We're looking for someone who is eager to learn, takes ownership of their work, and enjoys building relationships across a wide range of stakeholders.
As part of this you’ll:
-
Execute Business Acceptance Testing (BAT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities for system enhancements, developments, and product releases.
-
Follow test scripts, governance processes, and testing standards to ensure changes meet operational requirements before deployment.
-
Accurately document testing outcomes, record defects, support defect triage activities, and perform retesting to confirm successful resolution.
-
Maintain clear and auditable records of testing activity through agreed systems and processes.
-
Build strong working relationships with operational subject matter experts, product teams, technical teams, and business stakeholders.
-
Support business readiness activities through the creation and delivery of training materials, user guidance, workshops, and drop-in sessions.
-
Monitor and coordinate requests received through the Product Assurance inbox, ensuring queries are tracked and escalated appropriately.
-
Assist with data quality and data cleansing activities to support project delivery and operational readiness.
-
Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying risks, recurring issues, process improvements, and opportunities to enhance user experience.
-
Contribute to project activities, operational communications, procedural documentation, and change initiatives as required.
What you’ll need to do the role:
-
Experience working within a corporate, operational, project, change, testing, or business support environment.
-
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
-
Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to completing tasks accurately.
-
Strong communication skills with the confidence to engage professionally with stakeholders at all levels.
-
Ability to follow structured processes, governance requirements, and documented procedures.
-
Comfortable investigating issues, gathering information, and escalating risks appropriately.
-
Good problem-solving skills with an ability to identify root causes and contribute to practical solutions.
-
Experience using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
-
Comfortable learning new systems, technologies, and business processes.
-
Exposure to testing activities, Agile delivery environments, Jira, ServiceNow, data analysis, Power BI, APIs, or software delivery processes would be advantageous but is not essential.
Personal Attributes
-
Proactive and self-motivated, taking ownership of tasks and seeing them through to completion.
-
Eager to learn, develop new skills, and build knowledge across systems, processes, and operational activities.
-
Organised and dependable, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
-
Curious and inquisitive, asking questions to understand problems and identify opportunities for improvement.
-
Professional and approachable, building positive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
-
Confident working both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
-
Adaptable and resilient, able to work in a fast-paced environment where priorities may change.
-
Committed to delivering high-quality outcomes and maintaining strong attention to detail.
