Counter/Café Assistant – Part-Time
Location: Penrith, Cumbria
Pay: £12.00 – £13.00 per hour (Age Dependant)
Job Type: Part-time, Permanent

Please Note: You must live within a 30-minute commute of Penrith, be planning to relocate, or already be local. Fluent English and the right to work in the UK are essential.

The Penrith Chippie Group is a family-owned and operated business made up of Angel Lane Chippie, Sandgate Chippie, and two mobile fish and chip vans, all based in Penrith. Our business is built on the foundation of a professional, happy, and productive team environment.

We take pride in serving the nation's favourite dish with a smile, and we’re looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Counter/Kitchen Assistant to join our team.

About the Role

This is a fast-paced, customer-facing role, ideal for someone who enjoys working as part of a team and delivering excellent service in a friendly and clean environment.

This role includes Friday evening shifts and weekend availability is required.

Key Responsibilities

Provide excellent customer service at the counter and in the café
Maintain high hygiene and cleanliness standards at all times
Handle food preparation and packing orders
Operate tills and take customer payments accurately
Assist with stock control and restocking front-of-house supplies
Support the kitchen team with basic tasks as needed
Clear tables and maintain a tidy café environment
Follow all food safety and health and safety regulations

What We’re Looking For

Friendly and approachable with good communication skills
Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure
Reliable, punctual, and a team player
Strong hygiene awareness and attention to detail
Prior catering, hospitality, or waiting experience is a bonus – but not essential
Must speak fluent English
Must have the legal right to work in the UK
Must live within 30 minutes of Penrith or be relocating

£12.00 – £13.50 per hour (age dependent)

Schedule

mostly evening shifts (no later than 21:30 finish)
