Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Head Barista to lead our café team. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for coffee, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to oversee daily operations. This role involves preparing high-quality beverages, maintaining food safety standards, and ensuring a welcoming environment for all customers. The Head Barista will also support the training and development of junior staff, fostering a positive team atmosphere. You must have at least two years experience.

Responsibilities

Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages and specialised drinks in accordance with company standards
Oversee daily café operations, ensuring smooth workflow during shifts
Maintain strict adherence to food safety and hygiene regulations
Assist in food preparation tasks as needed, including light snacks or accompaniments
Provide exceptional customer service, addressing enquiries and resolving issues promptly
Manage stock levels, organise inventory, and place orders when necessary
Train and mentor junior baristas to uphold quality standards and efficient service
Ensure cleanliness of workstations, equipment, and dining areas throughout shifts
Handle cash register transactions accurately using POS systems
Implement time management strategies to ensure timely service during busy periods

Skills

Proven barista experience with knowledge of coffee brewing techniques and beverage presentation
Strong understanding of food safety regulations and hygiene practices
Excellent serving skills with a friendly and professional demeanour
Ability to assist in food preparation with attention to detail
Basic maths skills for handling cash transactions and inventory counts
Effective time management skills to prioritise tasks during peak hours
Leadership qualities to motivate and guide team members effectively
Organised approach with a focus on maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency
