Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Nursery Chef to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious and appealing meals for children in a nursery setting, ensuring high standards of food safety and hygiene. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a background in culinary arts, food preparation, or restaurant experience to contribute to a caring environment that prioritises children's wellbeing and development.

Duties

Prepare and cook healthy, age-appropriate meals and snacks in accordance with dietary requirements and nutritional guidelines
Plan menus that cater to the diverse needs of children, including special dietary restrictions
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, adhering strictly to food safety standards
Ensure all food is stored correctly and check for freshness and quality before preparation
Assist with meal service, serving food in a friendly and professional manner
Monitor kitchen equipment and report any maintenance or safety issues promptly
Follow all health and safety regulations to create a safe environment for children and staff

Requirements

Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or culinary roles, preferably within a childcare or similar setting
Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Experience working in a kitchen environment, including meal preparation and serving
Ability to organise tasks efficiently and work under pressure during busy meal times
Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
Basic understanding of nutritional requirements for young children
Relevant qualifications in catering or food safety are desirable but not essential
