Full job description

About the Role

We are looking for an Accounts Assistant (Purchase Ledger focus) to join our finance team on a 3-month temporary contract. Reporting to the Management Accountant, you will support the day-to-day financial operations, with a strong emphasis on the purchase ledger function, while also assisting with wider accounting tasks.

This is an on-site role, working 37.5 hours p/w, Monday-Friday.

Key Responsibilities

Process purchase ledger invoices and ensure timely payments to suppliers
Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies
Communicate with vendors regarding queries and payments
Process bank transactions and assist with reconciliations
Respond to internal and external finance queries
Identify process inefficiencies and support improvements
Provide cover for sales ledger and banking tasks when needed
Assist with stock control, including stock counts and reconciliations
Support costing, BOM maintenance, and margin analysis
Assist with production variance investigations
Contribute to month-end finance processes
Support ad hoc finance tasks and business improvement initiatives

About You

Essential:

Studying towards AAT or early stages of CIMA/ACCA
Strong numerical and analytical skills
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
High attention to detail
Previous experience in a purchase ledger or accounts assistant role
