Full job description

Assisting our NPD Development Chef in creating new products through demand and innovation whilst maintaining the high standards that Food Attraction Ltd are famous for.

As our range has significantly expanded, so our needs have also grown. Your expertise will be used to work on specific briefs as well as originating menu ideas to target new business.

Once ideas have been created and interest attracted, your assistance will then be required to scale the recipes and review the processes for bulk preparation and production – instructing and training our team of cooks.

Your duties will be carried out across our development kitchen and cook room in the heart of our production area – across low care and high care. Being confident and personable, you will liaise internally and externally with key stakeholders. You must be professional and presentable working closely with our NPD Chef.

Reacting to customer demands and blue skying new ideas will come from your experience and ability to research new ingredients and trends. Food Attraction Ltd sees itself as a trend setter and not a follower, so the latest ideas will help set us apart from our competition.

New recipes and processes in the factory require strong monitoring processes and the ongoing development of our team. Consistency and quality are key drivers of our success. You will be tasked with ensuring these points are at the foremost of our development and considerable time will be spent in the cooking area with your team on the shopfloor.

· Deliver recipes that are in line with the strategy of the company

· Research new ideas that will compliment our range and processes.

· Assist the NPD Chef with the quality management of our food

· Present to the company products and ingredients as the customer would expect to see them considering how such products may go through the factory.

· Conduct presentations either in house or at sites that the customer requests

· Conduct factory trials with the production manager and technical manager

· Work alongside the technical manager and production manager to test the feasibility of products

· Keep abreast of all new trends and fashions for food across various ethnicities

· Assist the Buyers in product sourcing and ensure we are buying cost effectively

· Vet new suppliers taking the lead from the Technical Manager – always request product specifications and product safety sheets as part of your development agenda

· Sample products from the factory via the daily taste panel ensuring our quality standards are maintained and planned production and recipes are absolutely followed

· Manage a clean and tidy kitchen and work area

· You will be using bulk cooking equipment – stock pots, fryers and cooking vessels -

· Picking ingredients from chillers and freezers will be required.

· Our products are vegan, vegetarian and meat based, and you must be able to taste what you cook and confirm the quality.

Computer literacy is a must both in terms of our factory ERP system transactions and Excel usage.
