Job Title: Deputy Manager, Supported Accommodation (in training to take on Ofsted registered manager position)

Salary: £35,000 - £39,000.
Working Hours: Full-time, permanent, participation in on call rota, may include evenings, weekends and bank holidays as required by the service.
We are looking for a Deputy Manager who is ambitious and keen to progress in their leadership. Someone who is passionate about achieving the best outcomes for young people. With the support of the registered manager they will be leading and motivating a team in providing excellent support to looked after young people and care leavers aged 16 + across three supported accommodation settings.
The right candidate will be motivated towards excellence and improvement of personal performance with a can-do attitude and attention to detail. They will have the ability to prioritise tasks and work under pressure; possess outstanding communication and people skills. The candidate must have a working knowledge of the Supported Accommodation (England) Regulations 2023, statutory guidance, relevant legislation and guidance and an in-depth knowledge of safeguarding requirements and legislation.
Job Description
Main Activities:
· To be responsible for the day-to-day management of our supported accommodation services, ensuring full compliance with Supported Accommodation (England) Regulations and our statement of purpose.
· To maintain high aspirations for our young people, ensuring that person centred support plans are being completed, implemented and reviewed to ensure progress against assessed areas of need to promote independence and wellbeing.
· To provide effective leadership and management to staff to facilitate the delivery of high-quality support services.
· To contribute to the development and review of company policy and procedure and that the same are widely understood and implemented by staff.
· To ensure there is a culture of safeguarding across the service and that all necessary actions are taken to safeguard young people, including being able to identify and respond to safeguarding concerns.
· To ensure that young people are aware of their rights and entitlements and are able to access advocacy where required.
· To implement practices to ensure routine and regular gathering of young people’s voice and views and these are at the centre of service delivery and development and to ensure young people are aware of how to share their views at any time.
· Multi-agency liaison with stakeholders and professionals as required.
· Work with registered manager to develop skills and experience to apply for the registered manager role (salary review upon successful registration).
Management & Support:
- To provide day to day line management to staff including; training, supervision, appraisals and performance management.
- To assist with the safe recruitment of staff.
- To manage staff rota, enabling deployment of appropriate staff resources to ensure key tasks are fulfilled, to include provision for back up as required in times of emergency/out of hours.

- To assist in the identification and pursuit of training and development needs, including the implementation of a workforce development plan.

Meeting Standards / Compliance / Quality:
- Ensure full compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures related to supported accommodation services, including the Supported Accommodation Regulations and Quality Standards, Children Act 1989 and 2004, Care Standards Act 2000, and other relevant legislation; maintain up-to-date knowledge of all applicable regulations.
- Comply with data protection legislation, confidentiality and information sharing policy and procedures and all legislation connected to the role in order to uphold standards of best practice.
- To ensure that young people’s records are maintained in accordance with legislation and company policy, to a high standard.
- Comply with the Company’s policies and procedures and all other relevant supplementary instructions.
- To support the service with the preparation and planning for regulatory visits, including being available and on site on the required visit date.
- Liaise with and co-operate at all times with relevant Local Authority employees and other professionals, meeting their requirements as appropriate.
- Prepare detailed reports for statutory and case reviews to a consistently high standard.
- Implement quality assurance practices to monitor and evaluate standards of the individual, the team and the service performance, to support the company to achieve its objective to continuously improve upon quality.
- Ensure that all safeguarding concerns are managed in line with safeguarding protocols including escalating to registered manager.
Health and Safety:
- To have effective oversight of Health and Safety across the accommodations; including risk assessments and compliance with legislation.
- Support the registered manager to respond to any Health & Safety concerns and take appropriate action to minimise any risks identified.
Finance and Operations:
- To implement effective systems for the routine collection and completion of all financial recording and reporting.
- To ensure compliance with financial policy and procedure.
- To utilise the accommodation operational budgets to ensure value for money and added value.

Qualifications
Level 5 in leadership for health & social care or Level 5 in leadership for children & young people services or equivalent or willingness to work towards.
Level 3 in residential childcare or Level 3 in children and young people’s workforce or level 3 in youth work or equivalent.
Knowledge & Experience
Recent supervisory experience in a similar setting.
Extensive knowledge of the needs of looked after children and care leavers, including those who are unaccompanied and seeking asylum.
Extensive knowledge of the legislation applicable to looked after children and care leavers, including those who are unaccompanied and seeking asylum.
Extensive knowledge of all statutory and legislative requirements including Ofsted supported accommodation (England) regulations 2023.
Experience of people management including; disciplinary, grievance, capability and absence.
Extensive knowledge and experience of safeguarding children and young people.
Experience of working closely with partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes for young people.
Experience of working with people with complex needs including mental health, offending, victims of exploitation, drug and/or alcohol use.
Other Essential Requirements
Clear enhanced DBS and willing to go onto the update service.
