Estimator

Location: Leicester – On Site
Salary: £50,000 - £65,000
Job Type: Full-time / Permanent

The Role

As an Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for electrical projects. Working closely with Contract Managers, suppliers, and clients, you will play a key role in securing new business and ensuring projects are priced effectively. This is a permanent, full-time position based on-site at our Leicester office.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for electrical projects.
Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
Perform quantity take-offs and cost analysis.
Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
Identify project risks and opportunities during the tender stage.
Liaise with clients, consultants, and internal teams regarding bid requirements.
Attend site visits and pre-tender meetings when required.
Maintain estimating databases and pricing schedules.
Assist with value engineering and cost-saving proposals.
Support project handovers following successful tender awards.

Skills and Experience

Essential

Proven experience as an Electrical Estimator within the construction or electrical contracting industry.
Strong understanding of electrical systems, installations, and construction processes.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office applications.
Strong communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to manage multiple tenders and meet deadlines.

Desirable

Relevant electrical qualifications (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC/HND, Degree, or equivalent).
Experience in commercial, industrial, or large-scale projects.
Knowledge of current electrical regulations and industry standards.
Membership of a relevant professional body.
