Job Overview

Join Our Team and Make a Real Difference

We are looking for compassionate, reliable, and motivated Support Workers to join our Supported Accommodation Service for young people aged 16–17 years.

This is a rewarding opportunity to positively impact the lives of young people by providing practical support, guidance, mentoring, and encouragement as they prepare for adulthood and independent living. You will play a vital role in helping young people develop confidence, resilience, life skills, and the independence they need to achieve their goals and build brighter futures.

We are seeking individuals who are passionate about supporting young people, committed to safeguarding, and dedicated to creating a safe, nurturing, and empowering environment where young people can thrive.

Please note: This is a support-focused role and does not involve personal care.

The Role

As a Support Worker, you will provide high-quality, person-centred support to young people living within our supported accommodation service. You will build positive and professional relationships, offer emotional and practical support, and encourage young people to develop the skills required for successful independent living.

You will support young people in areas including:

Budgeting and financial management
Cooking and meal preparation
Shopping and household management
Cleaning and maintaining accommodation
Education, training, and employment opportunities
Emotional wellbeing and resilience
Attending appointments and accessing services
Developing social skills and positive relationships
Preparing for independent adulthood

Key Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality support tailored to the individual needs, goals, and aspirations of each young person.
Build positive, trusting, and professional relationships that promote safety, stability, and wellbeing.
Provide emotional support, mentoring, and practical guidance.
Support young people to develop confidence, self-esteem, resilience, and independence.
Encourage participation in education, training, employment, and meaningful activities.
Promote healthy lifestyles, positive routines, and emotional wellbeing.
Support young people to access healthcare, education providers, social workers, CAMHS, and other relevant services.
Safeguard and promote the welfare of young people at all times in accordance with safeguarding legislation, Ofsted regulations, and organisational policies.
Recognise, respond to, and report safeguarding concerns, missing-from-home incidents, exploitation risks, self-harm concerns, and behavioural issues.
Use positive behaviour support and de-escalation techniques, including SCIP (Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention) approaches.
Contribute to support plans, risk assessments, pathway plans, and reviews.
Maintain accurate records, daily logs, incident reports, safeguarding documentation, and key work records.
Work collaboratively with colleagues, social workers, families, education providers, healthcare professionals, and partner agencies.
Participate in training, supervision, team meetings, and continuous professional development.
Help maintain a safe, welcoming, and supportive living environment for young people.

Essential Requirements

Applicants must have:

GCSE English and Mathematics (Grade 4/C or above), or an equivalent recognised qualification.
A Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Young People, Residential Childcare, Health & Social Care, Children & Young People's Workforce, Youth Work, or another relevant equivalent qualification.
A good understanding of safeguarding principles and a commitment to promoting the welfare of children and young people.
The ability to build positive and professional relationships with young people through a patient, supportive, and person-centred approach.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
The ability to maintain professional boundaries while acting as a positive role model.
The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and sleep-ins where required.
A compassionate, empathetic, and non-judgemental approach with a genuine passion for supporting young people.

Desirable Experience

Previous experience working with young people, children, vulnerable individuals, or within supported accommodation settings.
Knowledge of Ofsted regulations and Children's Standards.
Experience supporting young people affected by trauma, family breakdown, exploitation, emotional wellbeing difficulties, or social exclusion.
Knowledge of SCIP (Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention) or other positive behaviour support approaches.
