Full job description

Finance Manager – Esterpet Limited

Role Purpose

The Finance Manager will lead financial reporting, business partnering, operational finance, costing, inventory controls, budgeting, forecasting and performance analysis across the recycling operations. The role partners closely with Production, Procurement, Operations, Sales and Supply Chain teams to improve profitability, control costs.

Travel to our Seaham office will be required once a month.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Control

Manage month-end close and ensure timely financial reporting.
Prepare monthly management accounts, KPIs and Board reporting packs.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
Review balance sheet reconciliations and maintain strong financial controls.
Lead internal and external audits.

Business Partnering

Partner with Plant Managers and Operations teams to improve profitability.
Challenge operational assumptions and provide commercial insights.
Support pricing decisions through detailed margin analysis.
Analyse customer, product and plant profitability.
Present financial performance to senior management with clear recommendations.

Manufacturing Finance & Costing

Own costing models.
Analyse variances including:
Material Usage
Yield
Scrap
Labour
Utilities
Machine Efficiency / Spends
Monitor production KPIs.
Review production losses and recovery opportunities.
Support continuous improvement initiatives.

Inventory & Supply Chain Finance

Control inventory from:
Waste Bales
Flakes
Pellets
Packaging
Finished Goods
Lead monthly / weekly stock reconciliations.
Coordinate cycle counts and annual stocktakes.
Analyse inventory ageing and slow-moving stock.
Monitor inventory valuation.

Budgeting & Forecasting

Manage annual budget process.
Prepare rolling forecasts.
Develop weekly and monthly operational forecasts.
Analyse actual vs budget and forecast.
Provide scenario modelling.

Performance Reporting

Maintain dashboards covering:

EBITDA, Gross Margin, Conversion Cost per Tonne, Yield %, Energy Cost per Tonne, Labour Cost per Tonne, Production Efficiency, Scrap %, Recovery Rate, Inventory Days, Working Capital.

Commercial Analysis

Analyse raw material purchase prices.
Review customer profitability.
Monitor contribution margins.
Identify cost-saving opportunities.

Compliance & Controls

Maintain strong internal controls.
Improve finance processes.
Support ERP development.
Develop finance policies and SOPs.

Manufacturing Experience Required

Technical Skills

Advanced Excel

Preferred Qualifications

ACA / ACCA / CIMA / ICAEW
5–10+ years in manufacturing finance
Experience in recycling or plastics manufacturing preferred

Pay: £55,000.00-£60,000.00 per year
