Role Summary
Are you looking to make a positive impact in your local community this summer? All Stars Fun Zone in Chingford is seeking enthusiastic, caring, and reliable volunteers to join our team as Volunteer Summer Camp Assistants. We are a parent-led, child-focused team dedicated to creating happy, active, and inclusive holiday experiences where every single child feels like a star.
As a volunteer, you will gain hands-on experience working with two distinct age groups: Little Stars (ages 4–7) through creative play, and Rising Stars (ages 8–11) via sports and team games. Whether you are looking to build your CV for a career in education, complete community service hours, or simply want to help give local kids a summer to remember, this rewarding role offers a supportive environment to develop your leadership and communication skills.
What You Will Do (Key Responsibilities)
- Support Fun Activities: Assist camp leaders in delivering exciting multi-activity programmes, including sports, arts and crafts, team challenges, and our popular inflatables.
- Be a Buddy and Role Model: Engage with campers in a friendly, energetic, and inclusive manner, helping children build confidence, make friends, and feel welcome.
- Promote Inclusion: Support our commitment to accessibility by helping camp leaders ensure a safe, celebrated environment for all children, including those with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities).
- Camp Readiness: Help set up activity zones, prepare arts and crafts materials, and ensure play areas are tidy, safe, and organized.
- Welcome Families: Assist staff during peak times like morning registration and afternoon pick-ups, helping to provide a warm welcome to parents and campers.
- Teamwork & Safety: Collaborate with our experienced, DBS-checked camp leaders to uphold high health, safety, and child welfare standards at all times.
What We Are Looking For (Requirements)
- Age Requirement: Must be aged 16 or over at the start of the camp.
- Commitment: Must be available for at least 1 day between 10th August and 20th August.
- Positive Attitude: A genuine smile, a warm demeanour, and a passion for working with children and young people.
- Team Players: People who are proactive, willing to learn, and ready to embrace our core pillars: Active learning, Laughter, Safety, Trust, Art, Respect, and Smiles.
- No Experience Needed: Prior experience in childcare or youth work is a bonus, but not required! We provide all the guidance and training you need to succeed.
- Vetting: Volunteers will be required to undergo standard background/Enhanced DBS checks where applicable to ensure child safety.
