Job Introduction

TEAM LEADER – SPECIALIST AUTISM SUPPORT

Location: Tamworth
Hours: Full‑time - 36 hours per week - 30 hours on shift and 6 hours admin
Salary: £16 per hour flat rate
Contract: Permanent
Start date: ASAP
Reporting to: Registered Manager
Package: 1:1 support for an autistic adult with complex emotional regulation needs

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled, emotionally intelligent, and reflective Team Leader to support a 1:1 package for Neil, an autistic adult who requires predictable, psychologically informed, relationship‑based support.

This is a specialist role, ideal for someone who wants to build a career in:

Autism practice
Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
Psychology
Mental health
Learning disability support
Trauma‑informed care
Community support leadership

You will lead a small team, provide day‑to‑day structure, and ensure that support is delivered in a way that meets Neil’s emotional, sensory, and relational needs.

This is not a generic care role.
This is a niche, high‑impact, career‑defining position.

Your role is to protect his stability, lead his team, and ensure his emotional safety.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Coordination

Lead a small, consistent support team
Provide day‑to‑day structure, guidance, and emotional containment
Ensure staff follow Neil’s support plan, communication profile, and routines
Model best practice in autism‑informed support

Emotional & Relational Support

Build a trusting, predictable relationship with Neil
Provide calm, attuned, emotionally safe support
Recognise early signs of distress and respond appropriately
Maintain continuity and stability in all interactions

Communication & Predictability

Communicate clearly, honestly, and consistently
Prepare Neil for changes in advance
Ensure all staff follow the same communication style
Support Neil to understand decisions and processes

Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)

Work within a PBS framework
Use proactive, preventative strategies
Support Neil to regulate emotions and maintain wellbeing
Record and reflect on patterns, triggers, and outcomes

Operational Responsibilities

Coordinate rotas to ensure continuity
Liaise with family, professionals, and management
Maintain accurate records and documentation
Support recruitment and onboarding of new staff
