Role Purpose
The Production Operative / Sprayer is responsible for supporting the safe and efficient manufacture and coating of abrasive products in line with company quality standards, production schedules, and health & safety requirements. The role involves manual handling, coating operations, use of spray/painting equipment and bespoke machinery, inspection activities, and maintaining high housekeeping standards within the production environment.
This is a temporary 3 to 6-month contract to support increased production demand and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
· Manual handling and coating of a variety of articles using adhesives and abrasive grit.
· Operate spray guns and bespoke coating machinery safely and efficiently.
· Prepare raw materials and components for manufacturing processes.
· Carry out coating operations using resins, paints, adhesives, and related materials.
· Wear and maintain mandatory PPE including air-fed masks, gloves, and other protective equipment.
· Read and follow job cards, work instructions, and production procedures accurately.
· Accurately record production timings and complete job documentation.
· Carry out quality checks and inspections during production activities.
· Operate Counterbalance Forklift Trucks and/or Stacker Trucks where authorised.
· Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping standards in production areas.
· Follow all company Health & Safety, COSHH, environmental, and quality procedures.
· Identify and report machinery faults, defects, or safety concerns promptly.
· Support continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing process.
· Work collaboratively with colleagues across production and warehouse departments.
Skills & Experience RequiredEssential
· Good practical and manual handling skills.

· Reliable, responsible, and mature attitude.
· Good understanding of written and spoken English.
· Awareness of Health & Safety within a manufacturing environment.
Desirable
· Previous experience in a manufacturing, coating, or spraying environment.
· Experience using spray guns or industrial coating equipment.
· Counterbalance Forklift Truck licence or willingness to undertake training.
· Experience working within a Quality Management System.
· Basic mechanical understanding.
Training
Full training will be provided for suitable candidates. Previous experience in coating or spraying operations is advantageous but not essential.
Working Hours & Benefits
· 37 hours per week, with unpaid 30 mins lunch and 2 x paid 15 min tea breaks.
· Monday to Thursday 08:00 to 16:15, Friday 08:00 to 14:30 working pattern.
· Overtime available, including occasional Saturday mornings when required.
· Salary dependent on experience.
· Salary paid fortnightly, one week in arrears.
· 20 days holiday plus bank holidays.
· Christmas shutdown period.
