People Assistant

THE CONTEXT

The UK's zero-emission transport sector is being built right now. HydraB is at the centre of it - developing the vehicles, hydrogen infrastructure, power systems and energy services that move decarbonisation from ambition to operational reality across bus, coach, fleet and energy markets.

Five operating companies. One Group. A People function that needs to run as one business.

This role sits at the heart of that - keeping the processes, records and administration that underpin the employee experience accurate, consistent and moving.

THE ROLE

This is a hands-on People Operations role supporting the full employee lifecycle across HydraB Group. You'll be the first point of contact for HR queries, the person who keeps the systems accurate, the processes on track and the inbox under control.

You'll work closely with the Senior People Business Partner across everything from onboarding and contracts through to payroll administration, recruitment support and People reporting - making sure the function runs smoothly day to day.

WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY DO

Manage the People inbox - triaging, prioritising and resolving queries, escalating where needed
Prepare employment contracts, offer letters, amendments and employee correspondence
Coordinate onboarding - new starter documentation, system setup, welcome communications and inductions
Support employee lifecycle processes - probation, promotions, transfers, salary changes, leavers
Maintain HR trackers, personnel files and employee records in BambooHR
Support monthly payroll administration - updating the payroll tracker and audit folders
Provide recruitment administration support - screening coordination, candidate communications, right to work checks and offer documentation
Produce absence reports and People metrics to support decision-making
Support annual salary review, bonus processes and wider People initiatives
Identify opportunities to improve HR processes and ways of working

YOU'LL BE A GREAT FIT IF YOU

Have experience in an HR Assistant, People Administrator or similar HR support role
Are organised, accurate and comfortable managing multiple priorities at pace
Have worked with an HRIS platform - BambooHR or similar
Communicate clearly and professionally with employees and managers at all levels
Handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality as a matter of course
Are proactive - you spot what needs doing and get on with it

NICE TO HAVE

Experience supporting recruitment administration and ATS management
Familiarity with payroll administration processes
Exposure to a multi-entity or group company environment
Experience supporting cyclical People processes - salary reviews, performance cycles, audits
