As our new deep sea import terminal is nearing completion, we are now seeking Multiskilled Operatives to fulfil diverse roles at our Liverpool Import Terminal.
Purpose of the Role
The Multiskilled Operative will support the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the cement import terminal, including vessel unloading, weighbridge operations for inbound and outbound vehicles, site housekeeping and mobile plant operation and maintenance. The role ensures that materials are handled accurately, safely, and in accordance with operational, safety, and environmental requirements.
This is full time permanent work opportunity, with average 48 hours work week with the overtime hours available during ship unloading operations. Shift allocation will be based on terminal operational requirements and employees will be informed of shift pattern in advance, unless urgent cover will be required.
As multi-skilled operator, you'll be expected to fulfil the responsibilities mentioned below along with any additional responsibilities to support the Terminal operations.
The role will be based at out terminal in Liverpool and may at times require travel to support other terminals and ship unloading operations.
Key Responsibilities (not limited to)
- Terminal Operations Support
- Assist with the unloading of bulk cement from ships or barges using vacuum ship unloader.
- Support the operation of conveying systems, pneumatic pipelines, hoppers, and silo systems.
- Monitor cement transfer operations and report blockages, spillages, or equipment faults.
- Using dedicated computerised software control and assist with loading control room operations as required.
- Always maintain safety and housekeeping standards and challenge poor performance.
- Loading Operations
- Operate the site weighbridges accurately for incoming and outgoing vehicles.
- Record vehicle weights, product details, customer information, and load documentation.
- Issue delivery notes, weighbridge tickets, and other relevant paperwork.
- Ensure vehicles are correctly positioned on the weighbridge and comply with site rules.
- Liaise with drivers to provide instructions clearly and professionally.
- Report discrepancies, overweight or system faults to supervision immediately.
- Maintain accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with site procedures.
- Housekeeping & Site Maintenance
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness across the terminal, including weighbridge area, walkways, and operational zones.
- Clean cement spillages promptly to prevent dust release and slip hazards.
- Assist with basic preventative maintenance and daily equipment pre-start checks.
- Health, Safety & Environment
- Follow all health, safety, environmental, and security procedures at all times.
- Wear mandatory PPE and ensure visitors and drivers comply with site rules.
- Support dust control, spill prevention, and environmental compliance measures.
- Report hazards, near misses, incidents, or unsafe behaviour immediately.
- Teamworking & Communication
- Work closely with terminal operators, supervisors, maintenance teams, and drivers.
- Follow instructions safely and contribute to efficient shift operations.
- Assist with shift handovers and operational communication.
· Documentation & Records
- Complete weighbridge logs, operational checklists, and basic reports accurately.
- Ensure records are completed clearly and stored according to site procedures.
Skills and Qualifications
Previous experience with one or more of the below skills would be an advantage, but not essential as full training would be given:
o Ability to work a range of shifts including nights and weekends, as required.
- Strong safety awareness in an industrial or port environment.
- Numerate with good attention to detail for weighbridge accuracy.
- Confident communicating with HGV drivers and site personnel.
- Basic IT skills for weighbridge and terminal computer systems.
- Reliable, flexible, and able to work as part of a team.
- Understanding of Health and Safety principles
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- Willingness to work shifts, nights, weekends during vessel operations.
- Ability to work outdoors and in industrial conditions.
Desirable:
- Previous experience in weighbridge operations, cement, aggregates, ports, or bulk materials handling.
- Confined space, first aid or working at heights certification.
- RTITB or ITSSAR licence.
- IPAF and CPCS licences.
- First Aid Certification.
Physical & Working Conditions
- Manual handling, physical work and climbing ladders or gantries may be required.
- Exposure to cement dust, noise, heavy vehicles, and moving plant.
- Work in an outdoor, industrial port environment in all weather conditions.
- Flexibility on operating hours and shift patterns to optimise ship unloading operations

Salary: GBP 32000 – 35000 per annum depending on experience.
