Cury School is a new primary school catering to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs situated in a beautiful part of Cornwall. We are currently seeking a experience Teaching Assistant for 30.5 hours a week, term time, plus inset days.

Cury School is a new primary school catering to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Cury school is situated in a beautiful and inspiring part of Cornwall and is a satellite provision of Nancealverne School in Penzance. We pride ourselves on providing tailored support and education to empower our students to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

Role Overview:

The role of a Teaching Assistant at Cury School may change during the day, dependent upon the support needs of each pupil. The successful candidate will be required to work alongside class teachers and other support staff and to follow any recommendations/guidance from multi agency teams. This position will include extensive training annually covering Safeguarding, PRICE, trauma informed practice and communication to meet the SEN needs of individual children and the needs of the class.

Experience of supporting pupils with SEMH needs, severe physical and/or learning difficulties is desirable for this position.

Experience in a school setting is desirable.

A warm and empathetic personality is vital, as is a desire to work professionally with others to ensure we provide the best possible support for our pupils.

A commitment to continuing professional development is necessary; we work closely together, and roles may be interchangeable to meet children’s needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Hold and articulate clear values and moral purpose, focused on supporting pupils.

Demonstrate optimistic personal behaviour, positive relationships and attitudes towards pupils with profound, severe and complex learning needs, the workforce, and towards parents, governors and local community.

Lead by example - with integrity, creativity, resilience, and clarity

Sustain knowledge and understanding of education and school systems locally and pursue continuous professional development.

To support the educational, social and physical needs of pupils including those with severe physical, learning and complex behavioural difficulties, supporting the curriculum and school through the provision of assistance to the Teacher.
