Job Summary
We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced HGV Instructor to deliver high-quality training to aspiring commercial drivers. The successful candidate will be responsible for instructing learners in the safe operation of heavy goods vehicles and ensuring they meet industry standards. This role offers an excellent opportunity to utilise your driving expertise whilst contributing to the development of skilled drivers within a professional environment.

Responsibilities

Deliver comprehensive training programmes for individuals seeking HGV licences, focusing on safety, manoeuvring, and vehicle control.
Assess learners’ progress and provide constructive feedback to facilitate their development.
Prepare learners for practical driving tests in line with industry regulations.
Maintain accurate training records and ensure compliance with legal and organisational standards.
Demonstrate proper vehicle handling techniques, including specialised skills such as flatbed driving and warehouse manoeuvres.
Conduct theoretical instruction on vehicle maintenance, mechanical knowledge, and safety procedures.
Ensure training sessions are conducted in a safe, organised manner adhering to health and safety guidelines.

Requirements

Proven experience in commercial driving, with a strong background in delivery driving or warehouse operations.
Valid driver’s licence for HGV vehicles, must have held licence for 3 years
Mechanical knowledge related to heavy goods vehicles and associated equipment.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to instruct and motivate learners effectively.
Prior experience as a driver or instructor within a logistics or transport environment is highly desirable.
Organised approach with the ability to plan training sessions efficiently whilst maintaining safety standards.
Ability to work flexibly around training schedules and adapt teaching methods to suit individual learner needs. This role provides an engaging environment for professionals passionate about driving and training, offering opportunities to develop new skills whilst contributing positively to the transport industry.

Pay: £30,000.00-£43,650.40 per year
