Internal Sales with Counter

Robert Price (Builders’ Merchants) Ltd.

We have a permanent vacancy for Internal Sales with Counter at our Gower branch.

Who are Robert Price?

Robert Price Builders’ Merchants Ltd is a family run independent business, with head office in Abergavenny. Founded in 1847, we are a substantial local employer, with the developments and progressions of a modern large enterprise, and the grounding and values of a traditional family run business. We are the largest independent builders’ merchant in South East Wales.

What is a builders’ merchant?

A builders’ merchant is a company which supplies materials to the construction sector.

Up to 85% of the built environment you see around you is supplied by Britain’s builders’ merchants. Merchants and the supply chain are crucial to the construction industry which contributes over £40 billion to the UK economy each year. A career in this essential commercial sector can be challenging, varied and rewarding.

Hours:

42 hours per week average to be worked between the hours of 7:30am - 4:30pm from Monday to Friday with 1 in 2 Saturday mornings.

Pay:

Negotiable according to experience.

Benefits:

Include death-in-service scheme membership, NEST pension scheme membership. 30 days holidays including bank holidays. Uniform, boot money allowance, and discretionary bonus

Duties:

Dealing with sales of our building materials and responding to general customer enquiries, in person, by email and on the phone
Providing flexible cover for our counter sales, booking goods in and out using point of sale terminal
Giving prices and quotations, processing orders, arranging deliveries and associated administration
Assisting with stock control and placing orders
Being responsible for the pro-active development of allocated customer accounts
Assisting with merchandising, price labelling and stock management front of counter

Experience & Required Skills:

Good selling skills with proven experience in a sales office position
Able to consistently deliver a first-class customer service
Able to develop new business accounts, build excellent customer relationships and maximise profitable opportunities for the Company
Excellent numeracy, verbal and written communication skills
Excellent I.T. skills (Excel, Outlook and Word especially)
Administrative accuracy and efficiency and the ability to grasp new systems quickly and follow company procedures and instructions carefully and thoroughly
Able to multitask, prioritise tasks wisely and complete them in a timely manner
Enthusiasm, confidence and a proactive personality
Good teamwork skills, but also able to work independently and with initiative
Reliability and versatility

Highly Desirable:

A knowledge of building products and an interest in sales within the construction industry.
