Summer kitchen porter

Location: The Estuary, Penclawdd
Hours: 25–35 hours per week
Contract: Temporary Summer Role

About the Role

We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Summer Kitchen porter Assistant to join our team during our busiest period of the year. This is an important support role within the kitchen and wider business, helping to maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and efficiency.

The successful candidate will be proactive, take pride in their work, and be willing to support different areas of the business when required.

Key Responsibilities

Washing dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
Operating dishwashing machinery safely and efficiently.
Keeping the kitchen, pot wash area, and surrounding workspaces clean, tidy, and organised.
Supporting chefs and kitchen staff with cleaning and operational tasks when required.
Assisting with basic kitchen cleaning and end-of-day closing duties.
Closing down the pot wash area, including cleaning floors, surfaces, and equipment at the end of each shift.
Taking out rubbish and ensuring waste is disposed of correctly.
Monitoring cardboard waste and transferring it to the appropriate recycling bins when required.
Restocking cleaning products and kitchen supplies as needed.
Assisting front-of-house teams by clearing tables during quieter periods or when the parlour or bar is particularly busy.
Helping with litter picking and external bin duties when requested.
Ensuring external bin storage areas are kept clean, tidy, and presentable.
Reporting any missed bin collections or waste management issues to management.
Thoroughly washing and sanitising bins on a regular basis.
Following all food hygiene, health and safety, and company procedures at all times.

What We're Looking For

Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated.
Good attention to detail and cleanliness.
Able to work independently and as part of a team.
Previous kitchen or cleaning experience is beneficial but not essential as full training will be provided.
Follow health and safety regulations diligently to maintain a safe working environment for all staff.

Skills

Experience or interest in food preparation, cooking, or hospitality environments is advantageous.
Previous restaurant, hotel, or culinary experience is desirable but not essential; a willingness to learn is most important.
Good organisational skills with attention to cleanliness and hygiene standards.
Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced setting.
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities during busy periods.
Friendly demeanour with excellent communication skills suitable for working within a hospitality environment. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in developing their skills within the hospitality industry while gaining practical experience in a dynamic summer setting.

Pay: £10.85-£12.71 per hour
