Brymbo and Tanyfron Regeneration Trust (BTRT) is a community-focused charity working to support the community through providing services and wellbeing, inclusion, and opportunities for local people. We work alongside residents, volunteers, local groups, and partner organisations to strengthen community connections and improve opportunities for people of all ages.
We are seeking an Engagement Officer to help us deliver 'The Peoples Powerhouse Engagement Project' which is aimed at bringing the community to life with more chances to connect, create, and celebrate together. Through this project, local people will have the opportunity to shape and take part in a vibrant programme of community activities, co-created with the community, for the community with support from a dedicated parttime engagement officer will help make ideas become a reality and ensure that everyone's voice is heard. From baby groups to social events for over 55s and plenty in between there will be something for everyone to enjoy. This project is all about bringing people together, building a stronger sense of belonging, and making our community a more active, inclusive, and joyful place to live.

Role Purpose
The Engagement Officer will play a key role in strengthening relationships across the community and increasing awareness of the Trust’s activities, services, and events. The postholder will help encourage participation, support volunteers, promote community initiatives, and ensure local people feel informed, welcomed, and involved in the Trust’s work.
This is a varied, hands-on role suited to someone who is approachable, organised, creative, and passionate about community development.
Key Responsibilities
Community Engagement
· Build and maintain positive relationships with local residents, community groups, schools, and partner and support organisations
· Encourage community participation in projects, activities, and events
· Attend local meetings, outreach sessions, and community events on behalf of the Trust
· Gather feedback from residents and stakeholders to help shape future activities and services
Communications and Promotion
· Support the Trust’s social media channels, website content, mailouts, and promotional materials
· Promote community activities, events, and opportunities to increase engagement
· Collect and share positive stories, case studies, and updates highlighting the impact of the Trust’s work
· Help develop accessible and inclusive communication materials
Volunteer and Partner Engagement
· Support the recruitment, communication, and recognition of volunteers
· Help maintain strong relationships with local partners, funders, and supporters
· Assist with coordinating volunteer activities, meetings, and training sessions
Events and Activities
· Support the planning and delivery of community events, workshops, and outreach activities
· Assist with event administration, promotion, and attendance monitoring
· Help ensure activities are welcoming, inclusive, and responsive to local needs
Administration and Reporting
· Maintain accurate records of engagement activities and participant information
· Support monitoring and reporting requirements for projects and funding programmes
· Ensure activities are delivered in line with safeguarding, health and safety, equality, and data protection policies
Person Specification
Essential Skills and Experience
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of people
· Good organisational and time management skills
· Experience using social media and digital communication tools
· Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
· Commitment to community development and inclusion
Desirable
· Experience working or volunteering within the charity, community, or voluntary sector
· Experience organising community events or activities
· Knowledge of the Brymbo and Tanyfron area and local issues
· Understanding of safeguarding and equality principles
· Full UK driving licence and access to transport
