Are you an Occupational Therapist who thrives on autonomy, variety, and making a real difference in people’s lives? Do you want to work somewhere where the coastline is as inspiring as the work you do? If so, Whitby Community Services is seeking a Specialist Occupational therapist.

We are excited to invite an enthusiastic, motivated Band 6 OT to join our expanding community therapy team, which involves inclusion in Intermediate Care (IC) and Urgent Community Response (UCR) — supporting people across one of the most stunning rural coastal communities in the NHS.

A relocation package can be considered to support candidates moving to the Whitby area.

Be professionally accountable for your own area of clinical responsibility, ensuring the delivery of evidence‑based Occupational Therapy interventions for a specialist caseload across a variety of community and intermediate care settings.

Follow the full Occupational Therapy process, including assessment, joint goal‑setting, intervention planning, implementation, and evaluation, in line with standard operating procedures. Contribute actively to multidisciplinary care planning as a core member of the MDT.

Demonstrate and maintain specialist clinical skills, providing high‑quality, person‑centred care. Offer support, training, and clinical advice to patients, relatives, colleagues, managers, and external agencies to promote safe and effective practice.

Support individuals experiencing difficulties with everyday activities due to disability, illness, trauma, ageing, or long‑term conditions, enabling them to maximise independence and quality of life.

Contribute to the Urgent Community Response (UCR) service, helping to prevent avoidable hospital admissions and facilitating timely, safe discharges from hospital.

Delegate interventions appropriately to ensure evidence‑based care, effective use of skill mix, and smooth patient flow across services.
