Full job description

The Worship Coordinator will be responsible for the music ministry at the church plant in the UK. Working with cultural sensitivity and in collaboration with local leadership, the worship coordinator will facilitate weekly worship by choosing songs, recruiting volunteers, and investing in the life of the church and local community.

Responsibilities:

Lead engaging worship that includes a variety of musical styles suitable for a culturally diverse congregation
Work in collaboration with church leadership
Build the necessary team to carry out the worship ministry by recruiting, training, and developing local leaders from within the local congregation
Oversee and direct weekly practices, communicating the schedule with team members and audio/visual technicians
Select theologically sound songs for weekly worship that also seek to incorporate the cultural beauty and uniqueness of the church plant
Ensure team members have access to songs for the week, maintain the larger song database, and train the musicians on any new songs
Oversee the worship ministry budget in collaboration with church leadership
Set and evaluate annual goals for the worship ministry that are in line with the church’s vision
Maintain licensing for copyrighted worship music
Be an active member of the church planting and outreach team by participating in regular team life, meetings, church events, Bible studies, and various outreach ministries

Requirements and Critical Qualities:

Mature and growing Christian, with a deep and personal faith, seeking to live a life that honors and reflects Christ
A desire to share the love of God with others
Humble and teachable spirit
Experience planning, preparing, and leading worship services
Ability to lead worship with a team/band or independently
Basic understanding of music theory
Willing to learn songs in a variety of languages and genres
Must exhibit servant leadership, communication, time management, organizational, and people skills
Basic understanding of sound equipment and the ability to learn about the team’s technical set up, including video projection and livestream equipment
Be a student of culture with a heart to know, honor, and understand cultures different from yours
Always growing in understanding of host culture and how you can appropriately lead, adapt, and communicate with others
Cultural sensitivity in planning worship, choosing songs, working with others, and deferring to local leadership

Support Raising:

The person in this role raises their full financial support for salary, ministry expenses, and benefits.
When you are appointed to go with Serge, you are assigned a support coach who will guide you step-by-step through the entire support-raising process.
