Overview:

We are looking for a Full-Time Design and Communications Assistant to join our team at Pyro!

This position is ideal for individuals looking to enter the creative industry at an entry level, whether they are recent graduates or with transferable skills, and have a strong passion for illustration, design, marketing and communications.

As part of the ItsMe Society — alongside industry-leading illustration agencies including Advocate Art, Collaborate Agency, Astound Agency, Illo Agency, and CWLA — Pyro is a next-generation illustration agency representing on-trend global talent across publishing, advertising, and editorial sectors. We work across a wide range of styles and industries, from publishing and editorial to advertising and commercial projects, connecting a diverse roster of illustrators with clients worldwide to deliver distinctive and impactful visual storytelling.

What you will do:

As a Design and Communications Assistant, you’ll work closely with our Managing Director and play an active role in supporting the agency’s continued growth. This is a unique opportunity to gain insight into the inner workings of an illustration agency and learn how illustration is developed, presented, and marketed to global publishing, advertising, and editorial clients.

You will also have the opportunity to demonstrate your skills on a global stage while working with and communicating alongside high-profile clients across a range of industries. The role provides a strong foundation for developing both creative and professional skills within a fast-paced, internationally focused environment. You will gain hands-on experience in visual communication, client-facing collaboration, and creative project coordination, while building confidence working across multiple areas of the illustration and publishing industries.

The role also offers valuable exposure to potential career paths in Art Direction, Creative Direction, and Creative or Illustration Agency Management.

You will be working on a range of tasks, including:

Design engaging visual content for social media and marketing campaigns
Help manage and grow our online presence (Instagram, LinkedIn, newsletter, etc.)
Support the sales effort with campaign planning, client communications, artist promotions, and pitch presentations
Sales support including project management, and some degree of cold outreach
Admin support including liaising between artists and clients, and artist onboarding processes

Ideal skills & background:

Highly organised and detail-oriented
Creative with a strong eye for visual design
Interest in publishing, illustration, or the broader creative industries
Able to work under own initiative
Confident using design tools like Canva, or similar
Familiar with social media platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.) and marketing trends
Good communicator, both written and verbal

Bonus if you have:

Basic knowledge of email marketing tools (Mailchimp, etc.)
Relevant previous experience (i.e. sales, marketing)

Salary:

The starting salary for this role is £25K with OTE £30K +, depending on candidate’s experience. There is an opportunity to earn a bonus.

Additional details:

This is a hybrid role, and we are looking for someone based in or around London (2-3 days Weekly) in-person meet-ups in our office.
Working hours for this position is Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Be prepared to show us 2-3 samples of design or marketing work (can be personal, university, or freelance projects).
