Apprentice Skills Supervisor

We're looking for someone who genuinely cares about helping people grow.

As our Apprentice Skills Supervisor, you'll be the go-to person for apprentices across HTS—guiding them from day one through to qualification and beyond. You'll build relationships, solve problems, and make sure every learner gets the support they need to succeed.

About the Programme

At HTS, we're investing in our Apprenticeship Programme as a long-term strategy to future-proof our workforce. As the demand for skilled tradespeople continues to grow, we're committed to developing our own talent pipeline across our core service areas—from Repairs & Maintenance (including plumbing, gas, heating, electrical, carpentry, roofing, and painting and decorating) to Environmental Services (including arboriculture, waste management, and fleet and transport). By growing our own, we're ensuring that the skills, knowledge, and values we need are built from the ground up—creating careers, not just jobs, and securing the capabilities that our communities depend on for years to come.

What you'll be doing

Owning the apprentice journey — from attracting and recruiting new apprentices through onboarding, training, assessments, and completion
Being a mentor and advocate — regular 1:1s, progress reviews, and stepping in early when someone needs extra support
Connecting the dots — working closely with line managers, training providers, colleges, universities, and HR to keep everyone on the same page
Keeping things on track — managing compliance with funding rules, safeguarding, Ofsted requirements, and all the documentation that goes with it
Driving improvement — tracking achievement and retention data, spotting what's working, and helping us do more of it
Growing the programme — contributing to curriculum planning and helping us expand apprenticeship opportunities across the organisation

What we're looking for

You'll need:

Experience managing or mentoring staff in an apprenticeship setting
A track record of supporting learners to achieve and progress
Strong communication and coaching skills
Enough technical understanding of our service areas to challenge and support effectively (or a trade background)
Organisational skills to juggle multiple learners, deadlines, and stakeholders
A full UK driving licence

It'd be great if you also have:

An assessor or teaching qualification (A1, CAVA, TAQA, AET, or similar)
Experience with apprenticeship standards and End Point Assessments
Knowledge of Safeguarding and Prevent duties
A leadership or management qualification

Pay: £42,604.24-£44,229.57 per year
