Job Title

Lift Repairs Trainee

Overview

We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Trainee Lift Repairs Engineer to join our repair team. This role is ideal for someone looking to start or develop a career in the lift and escalator industry. You will work alongside experienced engineers to learn how to diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of lift equipment safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Assist qualified engineers with the repair and refurbishment of lift systems
Support fault finding and troubleshooting on mechanical and electrical components
Carry out basic repair tasks under supervision, including parts replacement and adjustments
Learn to read and interpret technical drawings and service manuals
Ensure all work is completed in line with company procedures and industry safety standards
Maintain accurate records of work carried out
Keep tools, equipment, and vehicles in good working order
Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and occasionally customers
Adhere strictly to health & safety regulations at all times

Training & Development

Structured on-the-job training with experienced engineers
Opportunity to work towards industry-recognised qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Lift Engineering)
Progressive development into a fully qualified Lift Repairs Engineer role

Requirements

Essential:

Strong interest in mechanical and/or electrical engineering
Willingness to learn and develop new skills
Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Basic IT and communication skills
Full UK driving licence (or willingness to obtain)
Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces

Desirable:

Relevant engineering qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering)
Previous experience in engineering, maintenance, or construction environments
Basic understanding of tools and equipment
