Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tailor/Seamstress to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating, altering, and repairing garments with precision and care. This role offers an opportunity to work in a creative environment, contributing to high-quality clothing production and bespoke tailoring. The ideal applicant will have a strong eye for detail, excellent sewing skills, and the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.

Duties

Sew and assemble garments according to specified patterns and designs
Alter and repair clothing items to meet customer or company standards
Select appropriate fabrics, threads, and other materials for each project
Measure clients accurately to ensure proper fit and comfort
Operate sewing machines and other related equipment safely and effectively
Inspect finished products for quality assurance, ensuring all seams and stitches are secure
Maintain a clean and organised workspace to uphold safety standards
Collaborate with designers or clients to achieve desired styles and fits
Keep detailed records of work completed on each project

Requirements

Proven experience as a Tailor/Seamstress or in a similar role with a strong portfolio of completed work
Proficiency in operating various sewing machines and hand-sewing techniques
Excellent attention to detail and steady hand-eye coordination
Knowledge of different fabrics, textiles, and sewing techniques
Ability to interpret technical drawings or patterns accurately
Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Strong communication skills to understand client needs and provide professional advice
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
