Full job description

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Chef to join our kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership abilities, solid culinary knowledge, and a genuine passion for creating high-quality dishes in a busy pub environment.

This role involves overseeing food preparation, supporting the day-to-day running of the kitchen, and ensuring all dishes are prepared to a consistently high standard. You will also be responsible for maintaining excellent food hygiene and safety practices while helping to deliver a great dining experience for our customers.

The successful candidate will play an important part in maintaining our reputation for quality food and contributing to a positive, efficient kitchen in a fast-paced hospitality setting.

Responsibilities

Lead and supervise the kitchen team to ensure smooth and efficient food preparation and service
Prepare, cook, and present dishes to a consistently high standard, following established recipes and specifications
Maintain high levels of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness throughout the kitchen
Monitor stock levels, place orders with suppliers, and minimise waste to support efficient kitchen operations
Work alongside management to develop and update menus, keeping the offering fresh and appealing
Support, train, and mentor junior kitchen staff to help develop their skills and confidence
Liaise with the front-of-house team to ensure a smooth and coordinated service
Promote a positive, professional kitchen environment that encourages teamwork and high standards

Experience

Previous experience in a chef role within a busy pub, restaurant, or hospitality environment
Supervisory experience is desirable, with the ability to lead and organise a kitchen team effectively
Strong background in food preparation, cooking techniques, and food production
Good knowledge of food safety, HACCP procedures, and hygiene regulations
Experience contributing to menu development and maintaining high standards of service
Previous experience managing or supporting a kitchen team is advantageous
