Full job description

On Track Technicians seeks to appoint an experienced and collaborative Commercial Manager to join our leadership team, supporting projects across the rail and construction sectors.

On Track Technicians (OTT) is a leading railway infrastructure contractor dedicated to developing railway networks. We ensure the safety, well-being, and quality of life for everyone working and using the railway.

This is an opportunity to play a key role in delivering commercially successful infrastructure projects, while leading teams and helping to shape the future direction of the business.

The Role

As Commercial Manager, you will lead the commercial function across multiple rail and/or construction projects, ensuring strong financial performance, robust contract management, and effective risk control.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

Leading, mentoring, and developing a team of Quantity Surveyors and commercial professionals
Overseeing the commercial delivery of rail/construction projects from tender through to final account
Driving profitability through cost management, forecasting, and performance monitoring
Managing NEC/JCT (or equivalent) contracts, including change control, valuations, and dispute resolution
Ensuring accurate commercial reporting, revenue recognition, and financial governance
Working closely with operational teams to identify risks, opportunities, and efficiencies
Supporting bids, pricing strategies, and business growth initiatives

What We're Looking For

We understand that candidates may bring a variety of experiences, so if you feel you meet most of the criteria below, we encourage you to apply:

Experience in a senior commercial role within rail, infrastructure, or construction environments
Strong understanding of contract forms such as NEC or JCT
Commercial and financial awareness, with experience managing project budgets and cost control
Experience leading or supporting the development of commercial teams
Ability to build strong working relationships with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders
A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement

Pay: £55,000.00-£70,000.00 per year
