This role includes working within the community across the Isle of Wight.
Inspire futures. Empower change.
Are you ready to make a meaningful difference and support young people to take positive steps towards their future?
Island Futures is seeking a proactive, compassionate and resilient Progression Coach to support young people who are not in education, employment or training (NEET), or at risk of becoming NEET, into sustained education, employment or training.
This is a targeted, person-centred role where you will work directly with young people across community, education and partner settings. You will provide tailored information, advice and guidance, helping individuals to overcome barriers, build confidence and engage in meaningful progression opportunities. Alongside this, you will play a key role in identifying young people at risk, tracking participation, and contributing to the Local Authority’s statutory duties, including NEET tracking, Activity Survey and the September Guarantee.
You will work collaboratively with schools, post-16 providers, Early Help, SEND services, Jobcentre Plus and wider partners to coordinate effective support and interventions. The role also includes contributing to re-engagement programmes, careers and IAG events, and employer-led opportunities.
This role supports our 2030 vision: that every young person on the Isle of Wight leaves post-16 education equipped with the knowledge, skills and confidence to thrive locally, nationally and globally.
What you will bring:
- Experience of working with young people, particularly those who are NEET or at risk of becoming NEET
- Ability to manage a caseload, assess need and deliver targeted, outcome-focused interventions
- Experience of providing information, advice and guidance to support progression into education, employment or training
- Strong partnership working skills and knowledge of local services
- Confidence in using data and systems to track participation and maintain accurate records
- Excellent communication and engagement skills
- An understanding of safeguarding, inclusion and supporting vulnerable young people
- A flexible, proactive and organised approach to outreach and service delivery
