Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly and attentive Tea Room Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, preparing and serving a variety of teas and light refreshments, and maintaining a welcoming atmosphere within the tea room. This role offers an opportunity to work in a charming environment where hospitality and attention to detail are highly valued. Previous experience in catering, serving, or hospitality is advantageous, particularly with food preparation and food safety standards.

Responsibilities

Welcome guests warmly and ensure they receive attentive service throughout their visit
Prepare and serve a selection of teas, coffees, and light snacks in accordance with established standards
Assist with food preparation tasks, ensuring all items meet safety and quality requirements
Serve customers at the counter or table, providing friendly advice on menu options
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the tea room, including tables, counters, and display areas
Handle cash transactions accurately and process payments efficiently
Restock supplies as needed to ensure smooth operation during service hours
Adhere to food safety regulations and hygiene standards at all times
Support team members in setting up for special events or functions when required

Skills

Experience in catering, serving, or hospitality environments is preferred
Knowledge of food preparation and presentation techniques
Barista experience is desirable but not essential; training can be provided for the right candidate
Strong understanding of food safety standards and hygiene procedures
Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanour
Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
Good organisational skills with attention to detail
Flexibility to work during peak times, including weekends if necessary
