About Us
Surpro Ltd is a growing metal fabrication company specialising in roof safety and access products, including rooftop handrails, access ladders, step-over units, platforms, walkways, staircases and bespoke fabricated products.
Established over 12 years ago, we have continued to grow and moved into larger premises in 2023. We are now looking for a CAD Draughtsperson / Fabrication CAD Technician to join our team and support the design, drawing and manufacture of our products.
This is a practical role suited to someone who enjoys turning site sketches, measurements and customer requirements into clear manufacturing drawings.
The Role
You will be responsible for producing accurate CAD drawings, 3D models, fabrication drawings, bills of materials and job information for our workshop and customers.
You will work closely with the workshop, office team, suppliers and customers to make sure jobs are drawn correctly, issued clearly and updated when changes are required.
Main Duties
Your duties will include:
- Producing accurate 2D and 3D CAD drawings for manufacture
- Creating fabrication drawings, approval drawings and customer drawings
- Turning sketches, measurements and ideas into clear working drawings
- Producing bills of materials, cutting lists and job sheets
- Making amendments to drawings following customer or workshop feedback
- Supporting new product designs and improvements to existing products
- Liaising with customers, suppliers and internal staff where required
- Keeping drawing records, job information and product files organised
- Supporting the workshop with technical information during manufacture
- Helping to improve drawing processes, product details and standard designs
Skills and Experience Required
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience using CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Fusion 360 or similar
- At least 1 year’s experience producing drawings for manufacture
- Experience in metal fabrication, sheet metal, structural steel, access products or similar would be advantageous
- Ability to read and create technical drawings
- Good attention to detail
- Good communication skills
- Competent computer skills, including Outlook and Excel
- A practical, organised and reliable approach to work
Desirable Experience
Experience with any of the following would be useful but is not essential:
- Metal fabrication drawings
- Ladders, platforms, handrails, walkways or access products
- Creating DXF files for cutting
- Bills of materials and material take-offs
- Site measurements or working from site sketches
- SolidWorks sheet metal or weldments
- AutoCAD 2D drawings
