Help through Crisis’ Adviser

Location: Wyre

Salary: £28,113

Hours: Full-time- 37 hours per week

Contract: Fixed-term- 3 year contract

Organisation: Citizens Advice Lancashire West

Are you passionate about helping people, and supporting people out of crisis?

Citizen Advice Lancashire West is looking for a ‘Help through Crisis’ Adviser to work alongside Wyre Council to ensure that residents who have received payments under the ‘Crisis Resilience Fund’ (CRF) are receiving support.

You will operate a triage system and connect residents to the best placed support, this may be through our general advice service, debt team, financial resilience advisor or one-to-one support with yourself. This one-to-one support will support residents who may have multiple complex issues and need additional guidance to overcome them.

This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of empowering people to overcome multiple issues and address the root cause of the crisis.

Responsibilities

Manage and triage clients who have received payments from Wyre Council’s CRF to ensure they receive appropriate support
Ensure triage system is working effectively
Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to ensure a “no wrong door“ approach to support
Maintain accurate, up-to-date case records using internal case management systems
Build and maintain strong referral pathways to ensure residents access the most appropriate services
Create and manage caseload for vulnerable clients receiving one-to-one support. This includes creating a risk assessment and support plan
Empower clients who are receiving one-to-one support to set their own priorities
Act for the client where necessary, this may include writing on behalf of the client
Ensure that advice is accurate, compliant and meets regulatory standards
Contribute to reporting requirements including:
Client demographics
Financial outcomes achieved
Case studies and impact statements
Wider outcomes, including health and wellbeing improvements
Keep up to date with legislation, policies and procedures and undertake appropriate training
Attend relevant internal and external meetings as agreed with the line manager
Carry out any other tasks that may be within the scope of the post to ensure the effective delivery and development of the service
Assist with CALW research and campaigns work by providing information about client issues, and alert clients of campaigns where appropriate

Person Specification

Experienced in providing advice or support in areas such as welfare benefits and housing
Ability to commit to and work with the aims, principles and policies of the Citizens Advice service
Experience in supporting clients
A strong communicator, able to explain complex information clearly and empathetically
Ability to work on clearly defined targets. Ability to be highly organised. Self motivated.
Skilled in working with vulnerable individuals in a supportive, non-judgemental way
Organised, with the ability to manage a varied caseload
Committed to delivering high-quality, accurate advice
The ability to prioritise tasks, to identify and work to deadlines and to manage time effectively under own initiative
Experience of using IT systems
Demonstrate an understanding of policy changes and trends, and their implications for clients and service provision
An understanding of and commitment to Equal Opportunities
Knowledge of safeguarding procedures
A commitment to continuous professional development, including a willingness to develop knowledge and skills
Full UK diving license

Benefits include:
