Job description

Permanent: 37 hours per week.

Working Hours: Shift pattern of mornings (6am -2pm) and afternoons (2pm-10pm) this is worked alternative weeks. You would also be required to work one Sunday in four.

Ysgol Bae Baglan offers an exciting opportunity to work within a state-of-the-art educational and community facility. The Governors are seeking to appoint a permanent Caretaker, working 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year.

Our school is recognised as a supportive and inclusive community where positive relationships underpin wellbeing and success. Inclusion is central to our ethos, and the role of Caretaker is vital in ensuring that all areas of the school are safe, secure, clean, and welcoming for everyone.

Previous experience in a similar role is not essential; however, experience in room setup, basic maintenance/DIY, and working within a school environment would be advantageous.

Ysgol Bae Baglan is at the heart of its community, operating as a vibrant hub open during evenings, weekends, and throughout school holidays.

We are looking for an individual who demonstrates:

Experience in general property maintenance

A sound understanding of fire safety and health and safety procedures

A committed, flexible, and reliable approach to work

The ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

A high regard for personal and others’ safety, with particular attention to safeguarding children

The role involves a shift pattern of alternating weeks:

Morning shift: 6:00am – 2:00pm

Afternoon shift: 2:00pm – 10:00pm

In addition, the successful candidate will be required to work one Sunday in every four. Duties will include opening and closing the school facilities as part of the role.
