Overview
OB Construction is a growing construction business seeking an Accounts Assistant / Assistant Accountant to join our finance team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with some accounting or bookkeeping experience who is looking to develop their career within a supportive and expanding company. The successful candidate will gain exposure to a wide range of finance activities and will have opportunities to grow their responsibilities over time.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist with day-to-day finance and accounting activities.
- Process purchase invoices, sales invoices, receipts and payments.
- Perform supplier and customer account reconciliations.
- Assist with bank reconciliations and cash management activities.
- Support month-end accounting processes.
- Assist with payroll administration and related finance tasks.
- Support VAT returns and compliance activities.
- Maintain accurate financial records and documentation.
- Assist with financial reporting and management information.
- Support process improvement initiatives and systems development within the finance function.
- Provide general administrative support to the finance team as required.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience in an accounts, bookkeeping, finance administration or similar role.
- Good numerical and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Desirable Experience
- Experience using Xero accounting software.
- Experience working within the construction industry or a project-based environment.
- Qualified Accounts Technician or Part Qualified / currently studying towards an accounting qualification.
- Experience with payroll processing or credit control.
- Interest in finance systems, technology and process improvement.
