Full job description

We are an afterschool and holiday club for children with additional needs. We are looking to recruit playworkers to support individual children on a one-to-one basis. We work with children with a variety of support needs. The children in this post require enhanced support.

During term time, afterschool hours are 3:00–5:15/5:30pm. During the holiday club our hours of operation change, with shifts of 10:15–12:30 or 10:15–4:00. Staff can then work up to 28 hours a week if available.

Responsibilities:

Engage and supervise children during playtime activities
Create a safe and inclusive environment for children to explore and learn
Plan and implement age-appropriate games, crafts, and activities
Encourage social interaction and positive behaviour among children
Ensure the well-being and safety of the child under your care
Communicate with parents or guardians regarding their child's progress

Skills:

Experience working with children in a childcare or educational setting
Knowledge of child development principles and practices
Ability to create engaging and interactive activities for children
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Patience, compassion, and the ability to handle challenging behaviors
Ability to work well in a team environment

You will be required to undertake a full enhanced DBS check and will need to provide two references.
