About the role

As part of Midland Air Ambulance Charity’s (MAAC) Community team, the Community Engagement Executive is responsible for taking a proactive approach to raising the profile of the charity and deepening relationships with a range of supporters, as well as the general public, in the local communities we serve.

As a key community ambassador for MAAC, you will work to increase our supporter base across our region and help generate agreed income through community fundraising activity. You will provide support to the Community Fundraising Lead and Community Fundraising Manager, working within the wider fundraising division. As a key member of the team, the Community Engagement Executive will implement the fundraising strategy for MAAC comprising of both in person and online community engagement methods, as well as working on special projects determined by business need.

The Community Engagement Executive will be responsible for developing a pipeline of potential supporters by attending and organising a range of public facing events across the six counties to help promote MAAC’S key campaigns, including our Training and Retail arms. You will also play an important part in utilising our regional airbases and Headquarters to forge strong links with local communities and increase engagement by hosting impactful visits and events for our key audiences.

In addition, the role will offer support and, when required, cover for Community Fundraising colleagues across our six county operating region by delivering talks, attending cheque presentations, and supporting or leading at community events to maintain consistent engagement and visibility. The postholder must be able to travel frequently and flexibly throughout the six‑county region to provide consistent support and presence.

The role requires travel across our six county region for 3-4 days per week but will mostly cover the south region including Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and Herefordshire.

About you

Working as a key part of successful Team, you will have experience of co-ordinating tasks, people, and activities, overseeing projects - ideally combined with fundraising, liaising with external clients and key stakeholders, and providing excellent customer service.

With excellent communication and administration skills, proficient IT skills including MS Office and good attention to detail, you will be self-motivated and capable of multiple-tasking and prioritising, and you will demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.

We are responsible for delivering a pre-hospital emergency helicopter led service across the Midlands Region – we proudly serve the diverse communities of Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Worcestershire and the West Midlands.

Midlands Air Ambulance Charity (MAAC) is the largest Air Ambulance Charity in England serving a population of nearly seven million over six counties. We are an established healthcare provider with over three decades of experience. Our core organisational divisions include:

Emergency critical care service – our three airbases play a pivotal role in delivering rapid critical prehospital emergency medical care, by ensuring that residents across the Midlands region have access to a network of air ambulance helicopters within 10 minutes. We provide a pre-hospital helicopter-led service, 24/7 operations, 365 days a year, to residents and visitors across the Midlands region, bringing hospital-level procedures and medicines to the patient at the scene of an accident or incident.

Charitable programme – we raise funds for our lifesaving service and play an active role within the communities of the six counties that we serve. We provide education programmes, volunteering opportunities and social engagement activities to support with community cohesion and wellbeing.

Retail network – we have a growing portfolio of charity shops which contribute towards raising funds for helicopter and critical care car missions. We also support environmental and ethical causes as part of our wider societal role.

Training provider – we deliver community life skill sessions, such as CPR, bleed control and defibrillation usage, alongside CPD accredited courses, ranging from workplace first aid training to specialist pre-hospital clinical training.
