Teaching Assistant – Alternative Provision (KS3 & KS4)

Full-Time | Competitive Salary | Multi-Site School

Are you passionate about supporting young people who need a different approach to education?

We are seeking a caring, resilient and committed Teaching Assistant to join our alternative provision team, supporting students in Key Stages 3 and 4 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and a range of additional special educational needs.

This is a rewarding opportunity to help transform the lives of young people who may have experienced barriers to learning and require a nurturing, structured and supportive educational environment to succeed.

About the Role:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other professionals to support students both academically and emotionally. You will play a key role in helping students engage in learning, develop positive relationships and build the confidence and skills they need to achieve their potential.

You will support pupils who may present with challenging behaviour, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), learning difficulties and other SEND needs, helping them to access a personalised curriculum and make meaningful progress.

Key Responsibilities:

Support students in lessons, both individually and in small groups.
Build positive, trusting relationships with young people.
Promote engagement, attendance and positive behaviour.
Assist teachers in delivering personalised learning programmes.
Support students' social, emotional and mental health development.
Help create a safe, structured and stimulating learning environment.
Record and report on student progress, behaviour and wellbeing.
Work collaboratively with teachers, families and external agencies.
Support educational visits, enrichment activities and interventions where required.
Contribute to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students.

We Are Looking For Someone Who Has:

Experience working with children or young people, ideally those with SEND or SEMH needs.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
The ability to build positive relationships and maintain professional boundaries.
A calm, patient and resilient approach.
Good literacy and numeracy skills.
Experience working in an alternative provision, specialist setting or mainstream school.

Desirable:

Knowledge of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD or SEMH needs.
Understanding of trauma-informed practice.
Experience using behaviour support strategies.
Team Teach training (or willingness to undertake training).
Full UK driving licence.
A commitment to safeguarding and inclusion.
