The Role:
We are looking for a passionate and committed Academy Foundation Phase Coach to join our Academy team at Carrington Training Complex.
In this role, you will coach and develop players aged U9–U12 within the Foundation Development Phase, delivering high-quality coaching that aligns with Manchester United's Academy philosophy and long-term player development model. Working alongside lead age group coaches and our multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in supporting players' technical, tactical, physical and personal development while creating a safe, challenging and enjoyable learning environment.
Key responsibilities include:

Planning and delivering high-quality coaching sessions in line with Manchester United's Academy playing and coaching philosophy.

Supporting lead age group coaches to ensure all player activity is delivered to the highest standard.

Promoting the long-term athletic and personal development of players aged 9–12, with a focus on enjoyment, creativity and skill acquisition.

Working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, including sport science, analysis, education and player care colleagues, to provide holistic support.

Preparing players for progression into the Youth Development Phase (U13–U16).

Contributing to coaching meetings and continuous professional development initiatives.

Supporting talent identification and Foundation Phase trial processes.

Representing Manchester United's standards and values in every interaction, both on and off the pitch.
The Person:
We're looking for an enthusiastic coach who is passionate about youth development and committed to helping young players fulfil their potential.
You will have:

UEFA B Licence (or be working towards it).
-
FA Youth Award (or equivalent).
-
Experience coaching children aged 9–12 years.

A strong understanding of child development and age-appropriate coaching principles.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, particularly when working with young players and parents.

Experience working effectively within a multidisciplinary environment.

Enhanced DBS clearance and up-to-date safeguarding training (or willingness to obtain where applicable).

Emotional intelligence and empathy when working with young athletes.
Desirable experience includes:

FA Advanced Youth Award (Foundation Development Phase specific).

Previous experience within a Category 1 Academy environment.

Knowledge of the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP) and player development frameworks.

An understanding of Manchester United's Academy philosophy and heritage.
