Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tailor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating, altering, and repairing garments to meet clients' specifications. This role requires precision, craftsmanship, and a keen eye for detail to ensure high-quality finished products. Duties
- Measure clients accurately and interpret their tailoring requirements.
- Cut fabric precisely according to patterns and specifications.
- Sew garments using hand or machine sewing techniques, ensuring durability and neatness.
- Alter existing clothing to improve fit or style as requested by clients.
- Repair damaged garments, including mending tears, replacing zippers, or resizing.
- Select appropriate fabrics, threads, and accessories in line with project needs.
- Maintain a clean and organised workspace, ensuring all tools are properly stored after use.
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding their preferences and project timelines.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest tailoring techniques and fashion trends.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Tailor or in a similar role within the fashion or garment industry.
- Strong sewing skills with proficiency in both hand sewing and machine operation.
- Excellent attention to detail and steady hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and pattern instructions accurately.
- Good organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of different fabrics, textiles, and sewing techniques.
- Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with clients and team members.
- Flexibility to work within deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality. Candidates with additional skills such as pattern drafting or experience with specialised sewing equipment will be considered advantageous.
