Job Introduction

2gether Support Solutions is a Facilities and Estates services company providing support to healthcare professionals caring for over 2000 patients daily across multiple East Kent hospital sites. 2gether provides vital services including maintenance, cleaning, catering, procurement, logistics and much more.

Are you passionate about great food and friendly service? Join our team at QEQM Hospital as a Catering Assistant and play a vital role in keeping staff, patients, and visitors fuelled and cared for every day. We are seeking a Catering Assistant on a permanent part time basis working 30 hours per week, Tuesday - Sunday on a two week rota basis.

You’ll be at the heart of our hospital catering team, working in our busy canteen and kitchens to deliver excellent customer service, maintain the highest hygiene standards, and help create a welcoming environment for everyone who walks through our doors. This role plays a vital part in ensuring patients receive meals and refreshments safely and efficiently.

What you’ll be doing:

Serving food and drinks with a smile, ensuring every customer feels welcome including loading patient meal and snack trolleys accurately and efficiently.
Keeping food preparation and serving areas clean, tidy, and safe
Supporting the kitchen team with basic food preparation and equipment care.
Handling cash and card payments confidently and accurately
Following food safety and hygiene procedures to the highest standards
Receiving and checking food, beverage and catering deliveries.
Ensure all deliveries are stored promptly and safely in accordance with food safety procedures.
Report any discrepancies, damaged goods or quality concerns to the supervisor.
Rotate stock using the FIFO principle.

What we’re looking for:

A positive attitude and a commitment to great customer service
Previous experience in catering, hospitality, or customer service is helpful, but not essential – full training will be provided
A team player who takes pride in their work and enjoys a fast-paced environment
Knowledge of food safety procedures and stock rotation practices
Commitment to hygiene and food safety standards
Clear communication is key – you’ll be confident engaging with customers, colleagues, and hospital staff
A proficient level of reading, verbal, and written English is required for this role to ensure effective communication and job performance.
