Back + Body Medical is an established and expanding private healthcare provider specialising in musculoskeletal medicine, sports medicine and diagnostic imaging.
We're looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate and motivated MRI Assistant / Healthcare Assistant to join our growing MRI service based at our flagship Moulton clinic.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys delivering exceptional patient care and wants to develop specialist skills within diagnostic imaging. Through a structured competency-based training programme, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to progress to become an MRI Operator within our service.
This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same. You'll work closely with our multidisciplinary team of consultants, physiotherapists, MRI operators and medical administrators to deliver an outstanding patient experience from arrival through to discharge.
About Our MRI Service
Our Moulton clinic is home to an Esaote S-scan Open MRI scanner, providing high-quality musculoskeletal MRI in a more comfortable environment than a traditional tunnel scanner.
We offer MRI scans for self-pay, insured and clinician-referred patients, with consultant radiologist reporting, integrated follow-up services and a strong focus on exceptional patient care.
As our diagnostic imaging service continues to grow, with plans to expand across additional locations in the coming years, we're committed to investing in our people and creating genuine opportunities for career development.
The Role
As an MRI Assistant, you'll play a key role in supporting both our patients and our MRI team throughout the scanning process.
Patient Care
- Welcome patients and provide an exceptional first impression of Back + Body Medical.
- Prepare patients for their MRI appointment.
- Complete MRI safety screening questionnaires.
- Explain the scanning process and answer patient questions.
- Assist patients with changing where required.
- Support patient positioning to maximise comfort and image quality.
- Assist patients with reduced mobility.
- Monitor patient wellbeing before, during and after their appointment.
- Escort patients safely through the clinic.
MRI Support
- Prepare the MRI room before each patient.
- Assist with patient positioning and coil placement.
- Prepare equipment and accessories for examinations.
- Clean and disinfect coils, the MRI table and accessories between patients.
- Complete daily room preparation and end-of-day room reset.
- Maintain stock levels and consumables.
- Support MRI quality assurance procedures.
- Ensure the MRI suite is maintained to the highest standards of safety and cleanliness.
Administrative Support
- Assist with MRI bookings and appointment preparation.
- Manage patient documentation and records.
- Support patient enquiries.
- Liaise with reception, consultants, therapists and the medical administration team.
- Assist with governance, audits and service improvement projects.
- Help ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the MRI service.
Development Opportunity
Unlike a traditional Healthcare Assistant role, this position offers a structured pathway to become an MRI Operator.
You'll receive comprehensive in-house training and competency-based development in areas including:

Essential Requirements
- Previous experience working within a healthcare or patient-facing environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Willingness to learn new clinical skills.
- Ability to work at least two evenings each week, with shifts finishing at 8:00 pm.
- Flexibility to meet the needs of the growing MRI service.
Desirable
- Healthcare Assistant experience.
- Previous experience within radiology or MRI.
- Experience working in private healthcare.
- Care Certificate.
- First Aid qualification.
- Knowledge of musculoskeletal healthcare.
