Room Leader – Level 3 Childcare

Oakham | Scallywags Day Nursery
Up to 40 Hours per Week - Monday to Friday
Level 3 Childcare Qualification Essential

Key Requirements

✔ Level 3 Early Years / Childcare qualification or above
✔ Previous experience as a Room Leader or Senior Practitioner
✔ Strong knowledge of EYFS and OFSTED requirements
✔ Understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and health & safety
✔ Excellent communication and team leadership skills

About the Role

Scallywags Day Nursery are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Room Leader to join our dedicated team in Oakham. We are committed to delivering the highest standards of childcare and early years education for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years, ensuring every child feels happy, safe, confident, and supported.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate childcare professional to lead a room, support colleagues, and help create a stimulating and nurturing environment where children can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

Support the Manager and Deputy Manager with the day-to-day running of the nursery
Create a safe, secure, and engaging environment for children
Deliver high-quality play and learning opportunities in line with the EYFS framework
Lead, support, and motivate your room team effectively
Monitor children’s development and maintain high standards of care and education
Ensure nursery policies, procedures, and safeguarding standards are followed
Build strong professional relationships with parents and carers
Supervise staff and contribute to a positive team environment

Confident leading and supporting a team
Organised with excellent communication skills
Able to work independently and collaboratively

Working hours are up to 40 hours per week, with shift patterns between 7:30am and 6:00pm, Monday to Friday. Part-time hours may also be considered for the right candidate.
