Full job description

£15.00–£18.00 per hour (depending on experience)
30-hour average week | Weekend availability essential

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Kitchen Manager to join our catering team at our busy sports and conference venue.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys a varied catering environment, combining conference catering, buffet production, matchday hospitality and event catering.

Our catering operation provides food for conferences, functions, sporting events and regular venue activity throughout the year. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the kitchen, maintain high standards and help deliver a consistently excellent catering experience.

The Role

As Kitchen Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day running of the kitchen, including:

· Preparing and producing high-quality buffet and event catering

· Planning kitchen prep and organising daily requirements

· Managing stock levels, ordering and food rotation

· Monitoring food costs and maintaining control of gross profit (GP)

· Reducing waste and improving kitchen efficiency

· Maintaining excellent food safety, hygiene and allergen standards

· Leading and supporting the kitchen team

· Coordinating casual kitchen staff during larger events and busy matchdays

· Ensuring food quality, consistency and presentation standards are maintained

· Supporting conference and event catering delivery

· Managing busy matchday catering periods, including larger volume services

About You

We are looking for someone who:

· Has previous experience managing or leading a kitchen team

· Is confident working independently and taking responsibility

· Has strong organisation and time-management skills

· Understands stock control, food safety and kitchen processes

· Has experience managing food costs and maintaining GP targets

· Can plan ahead and remain calm during busy service periods

· Takes pride in producing quality food

· Is able to work flexibly around venue requirements

Experience in events catering, conference catering, buffet production or sports hospitality would be an advantage.

Hours & Availability

· 30-hour average working week

· Weekend availability is essential

· Regular weekend, matchday and event working is required throughout the sporting season

· Working patterns will vary depending on conferences, events and operational needs

· Additional casual kitchen support is provided for larger events
