Full job description

THE OPPORTUNITY
Wessex Packaging is one of the UK's fastest-growing packaging businesses, supplying consumables, machinery and technical solutions nationwide. Our growth is built on making it easy for customers to do business with us: responding quickly, solving problems and continually finding better ways to reduce cost, improve efficiency and protect continuity of supply.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Maintain, develop and grow a portfolio of Wessex Packaging's largest key accounts in close partnership with a Key Account Manager who leads the face-to-face relationship. You will be the primary day-to-day contact, providing the responsiveness, organisation and commercial focus needed to deliver exceptional service and increase our share of wallet.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Own the day-to-day relationship with a portfolio of key accounts, building trust and understanding each customer's operation, needs and growth potential.
Proactively contact customers to identify cross-selling and share-of-wallet opportunities.
Take ownership of actions and opportunities arising from customer visits, coordinating quotations, pricing, samples and input from the Commercial and wider teams to keep each project moving through to completion.
Prepare accurate quotations and follow them up confidently by phone.
Respond quickly to enquiries and resolve high-level issues, involving other departments as required.
Use Phocas Business Intelligence to monitor sales, purchasing trends, profitability and downspend, turning insight into clear account actions.
Plan the Key Account Manager's customer visits, priorities and follow-up activity.
Prepare meeting information and maintain accurate customer, opportunity and activity records in Pipedrive CRM.
Work across Commercial, Purchasing, Customer Service and Operations to ensure actions are completed promptly.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Experience in internal sales, account management or commercially focused customer service.
A track record of building relationships and delivering results.
Confidence progressing opportunities and handling customers by phone.
Strong commercial nous: able to interpret sales data, spot risks and opportunities, prioritise effectively and turn analysis into action.
Excellent organisation, responsiveness and attention to detail.
The confidence to coordinate multiple departments without directly managing them.
Comfort using CRM, business intelligence and Microsoft Office systems. Pipedrive, Phocas or Business Central experience is beneficial, but training is provided.
