The role
This is a unique opportunity for a passionate Nurse to join a dynamic and friendly team who are dedicated to providing first class patient care. In return we will offer a competitive salary with outstanding staff benefits and training.
The role involves providing patient care of the highest quality to patients under the supervision of the consultant team. You will also be expected to maintain a safe and healthy environment for patients, visitors and staff. This is a uniformed post and you will be expected to wear uniform as provided and directed.
You will report to the Lead Nurse. While we anticipate you will be mainly based at our Centre of Excellence on Harley Street, we expect that you are able to work across all our sites as required. This is a permanent, full-time role (35 hours per week) Monday – Saturday.
Key responsibilities
Leadership:
- Provide consistent support to the Lead Nurse, deputising in their absence by handling both clinical responsibilities and office-based management duties when necessary.
- Attend and departmental meetings, when necessary, actively contributing to discussions and decision-making processes that drive continuous improvement and support the efficient operation of the unit.
- Offer clear, visible, and professional leadership to colleagues, acting as a supportive presence and setting a high standard of practice and conduct across the team.
- Serve as a positive role model by encouraging collaboration, promoting professional development, and maintaining a culture of mutual respect and teamwork.
- Maintain regular communication with the Lead Nurse to provide feedback, coordinate team activities, and implement necessary changes to adapt to the needs of patients and evolving clinical situations.
- Foster a positive and effective working environment by using strong interpersonal and communication skills to motivate staff and resolve issues as they arise.
- Ensure the safe and timely flow of patients through the department by exercising sound clinical judgement, effectively prioritising care needs, and proactively addressing any barriers to smooth patient progression.
- Take an active role in the recruitment and selection process for new staff, ensuring the right candidates are chosen to support the team’s values and goals.
- Monitor existing staff competencies and introduce new ones where appropriate, ensuring clinical standards are upheld and staff are confident in their roles.
- Assist with the management of clinical supplies, ensuring that stock levels are maintained within budgetary limits and supporting accurate ordering and stock control processes.
- Contribute to departmental efficiency by participating in regular stock checks and helping to reduce waste or overuse of resources.
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Take full responsibility for delivering personalised patient care, ensuring all actions align with the practice’s established model of care.
- Consistently apply a holistic and patient-centred approach, considering each patient's physical, emotional, and social needs.
- Maintain thorough, accurate, and up-to-date nursing and patient records to support high standards of clinical documentation and continuity of care.
- Foster and maintain strong working relationships with all members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure patients receive coordinated and effective treatment.
- Adhere strictly to all practice guidelines, policies, procedures, and processes, while also contributing to their ongoing implementation and regular review.
- Oversee the smooth running of the clinic, including chaperoning patients during consultations, ensuring consultation and treatment rooms are cleaned and reset between patients, performing phlebotomy and collecting blood samples, managing specimen labelling and handling, conducting basic observations, and assisting consultants during outpatient procedures.
- Deliver a range of nurse-led services, such as administering vaccinations and injections, as well as conducting smear tests, in line with current clinical guidelines.
- Promptly report any incidents, near misses, complaints, or concerns in accordance with the practice’s reporting procedures to support a culture of safety and transparency.
- Identify and report equipment faults without delay, taking appropriate steps to ensure timely repairs or replacements.
- Take responsibility for upholding health and safety standards, including fire safety, within the clinical environment.
- Always follow Infection Control Procedures and Sharps Safety Protocols to minimise risk and promote a safe setting for patients and staff.
- Provide support to the Lead Nurse in meeting Care Quality Commission (CQC) requirements and ensuring the practice remains compliant with all regulatory standards.
Education and Certifications
- Degree in nursing or a health-related subject
- Registered Nurse (Valid NMC registration)
Experience and Qualifications
- Phlebotomy experience (Essential).
- Nursing experience in a gynaecology setting, preferably within the private sector.
- Excellent customer care and communication skills.
- Enthusiastic, well organised, motivated and have a compassionate nature.
- Positive attitude, particularly towards flexibility and change.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality, dignity and ensuring the correct disposal of confidential waste is followed.
- Awareness of GDPR.
- Excellent time keeping skills and working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- A willingness to work outside the core responsibilities of the role.
