Full job description

Cafe Tamra, our well-loved brunch group of Cafes in Wandsworth, is seeking an experienced, versatile Sous Chef to support our kitchen operations.

Specializing in fresh, high-quality brunch dishes, we deliver delicious food in a busy, vibrant daytime setting. The ideal candidate will be a skilled culinary professional with kitchen management experience, a passion for brunch cuisine, and the ability to independently handle key aspects of our daytime kitchen operations.

The work week is 5 days, with an expectation to work all weekends. As we operate daytime only, our chefs typically are finished by 6pm, which has been a considerable benefit noted by all our kitchen staff, over the years.

Key Responsibilities:

Support the head chef in the day to day kitchen operations.
Help the Head chef to train and supervise new kitchen junior staff to ensure consistent preparation and presentation of brunch dishes to Cafe Tamra’s standards.
Handle daily food and inventory tasks, including monthly stock takes, ordering from suppliers, and monitoring stock levels.
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations by managing food labeling, checking cooking, reheating, and delivery temperatures, and completing opening and closing checks and checklists..
Maintain consistent, high-quality dish presentation that aligns with Cafe Tamra’s brand.
Complete all cleaning tasks, follow the weekly cleaning checklist, and address or document minor equipment/site damage.
Cover Head Chef duties, when required

Qualifications & Skills:

Proven experience as a Sous Chef or senior kitchen staff member in a professional kitchen, preferably in a brunch or daytime dining setting.
Strong communication skills to train and guide kitchen staff.
Solid knowledge of food safety, inventory management, and kitchen operations.
Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
Detail-oriented in food presentation, stock management, and compliance checks.
Problem-solving skills to handle minor equipment or site issues.
Availability for daytime shifts, including weekends, in a 7-day operation.

Pay: £17.00 per hour
