Mechanical Compliance Lead

Chemring Countermeasures is a world leading and innovative company, designing and developing countermeasure solutions to armed forces throughout the world. We are part of the Chemring Group of companies and have a solid global infrastructure, which also helps us to thrive.

Overview of the role

Lead and coordinate end to end mechanical statutory compliance activities across site, supporting Facilities and Maintenance teams by managing inspections, records, remedial actions, and acting as the technical point of escalation.

Responsibilities

Lead mechanical bias statutory compliance requirements, including Asbestos, Water (Legionella), Air / Pressure Systems, Fire Alarm & Deluge Systems, LOLER, Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV), Contractor Management and control.

Plan, host and coordinate statutory inspections, servicing and audits.

Issue, review, and control Permit to Work systems to ensure all works are undertaken safely and in compliance with site procedures

Review, interpret, and quality check service reports, surveys, certification and CMMS work orders for compliance specific tasks.

Own and manage remedial action and project plans, ensuring risks are prioritised, budgeted and closed out.

Maintain accurate compliance records, registers and action trackers.

Provide clear reporting (KPIs) on compliance status, risk and progress to key stakeholders.

Deliver and maintain internal policies, procedures and risk assessments relating to compliance. Ensuring internal tasks are tracked and appropriate training implemented.

Monitor compliance against relevant legislation, Approved Codes of Practice (ACOPs), British Standards and internal policies.

Identify compliance gaps, trends, improvement opportunities, escalating risks where required.

Act as the technical escalation point for mechanical compliance matters.

Communicate and coordinate work with various departments. Working closely with Facilities, Maintenance, production and the Health & Safety team.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and/or Experience

Right to live and work in the UK

Relevant technical qualification or apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, Facilities Management or similar

Demonstratable experience managing mechanical statutory compliance requirements in a similar industry

Desirable Qualifications, Skills and/or Experience

HNC / HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar

• IOSH or NEBOSH Safety Qualification • Specialist compliance training (e.g. Legionella RP, Asbestos, Pressure Systems)

IT Literate, with experience using Microsoft Office and CMMS software

• IWIFM or IMechE Professional Membership

This role will be worked over a 4.5 day week; Monday to Thursday 08:00 – 16:45 and Friday 08:00 – 12:30.
