Full job description

Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Sous chef to join our culinary team within a dynamic food production environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, extensive kitchen experience, and a passion for delivering high-quality freshly made food and service. This role offers an opportunity to be creative , mentor junior staff, and ensure the highest standards of food safety and customer satisfaction are maintained. The Sous will play a pivotal role in fostering a collaborative team atmosphere whilst upholding organisational goals.

Duties

Help to Supervise and coordinate the activities of kitchen staff, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to company standards
Oversee food preparation and cooking processes, maintaining consistency in quality and presentation
Manage food safety protocols, ensuring compliance with health regulations and hygiene standards
Assist with menu planning, recipe development, and ingredient sourcing to optimise food quality and cost efficiency
Provide training and mentorship to junior team members, fostering professional development and teamwork
Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and manage stock control to minimise waste
Collaborate with management on operational improvements and customer service initiatives
Ensure the kitchen environment remains clean, organised, and safe at all times

Skills

Proven supervising experience within a food production or hospitality setting
Extensive culinary expertise with strong skills in food preparation, cooking, and presentation
Solid understanding of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene management
Experience in team management, leadership, and staff training
Knowledge of restaurant or hospitality operations including serving procedures
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
Strong communication skills to liaise confidently with team members and management
Previous experience in a kitchen environment or culinary role is essential; hospitality background is highly desirable

Pay: £31,500.00-£36,000.00 per year
